Radomes protect antennas by providing a structural and weatherproof enclosure, while minimizing interference with radar transmissions. Typically the material of choice is fiberglass or quartz depending on the frequency that is being transmitted. Depending on the loads placed on the radome, structural cores can be added to the laminate such as foam or honeycomb.
